Basenji Breeders Victoria Australia
Preserving the Past, Present & Future
Tambuzi Basenjis; Basenji Breeders Victoria Australia is kennel devoted to this ancient dog breed. In Swahili Tambuzi means intelligent, shrewd, clever, astute, quick-witted. This seemed to sum up the Basenji completely. I thought Tambuzi to be the perfect kennel name for this breed. I welcome you to browse through this website. Review information about my Basenjis, health information, history, my breeding plans, links and resources. I am a member and registered breeder of DOGS Victoria please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to verify my membership. My Victorian Government Pet Exchange Register source number is RB128637. Should you have any questions about this truly unique breed, please do not hesitate to contact me.

As I wasn't able to enter the show a little more 'local' to me (in Victoria) today so I had planned the journey up to Southern NSW. To show Lyra of course and also my friends mini smooth dachshund. I've shown him a number of times and have done quite well - he is a nice boy. The show was the Holbrook Show Society 2016 . The judge was Mr Derek Hyde (ACT) he awarded Lyra Best of Breed followed by Best Exhibit in Group, Best Junior in Group and later through to Best Junior in Show. This takes Lyra to the 10 best in groups as one requirement for the title of Supreme Champion. Lyra must now complete the other requirement if 1,000 points. Really excited with Lyra she continues to do so well under all manner of judges.
Lyra - Best Exhibit in Group, Best Junior in Group & Best Junior in Show
Holbrook Show - 5 Nov 2016
So pleased with Lyra Ch Tambuzi the Secret Society. I am excited to announce that today at the Cobram Agricultural Society Show 2016 Lyra was awarded her second BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW. Miss Marilyn Hoy (NSW) awarded Lyra Best of Breed. Followed by Best Exhibit in Group, finally all the way through to this wonderful win. Obviously, taking Best Junior in Group and Best Junior in Show awards as well. The best in show line up was exceptional, some multi best in show winners amongst them. This win takes Lyra to 2 Best in Show and 9 Best in Group wins. Such a tremendous results for this young girl.

BASENJIS ARE DIFFERENT TO MOST DOG BREEDS
We don’t bark
We have one season per year
Unlike most domestic breeds the Basenji retains some of its wild ancestory and like the wolf it only seasons annually. Basenji puppies are generally born in winter.
We clean ourselves like cats
Basenji are meticulous about being clean. They preen them selves like a cat. They also do not have a 'doggie' odour, rather they pick up the smells around them.
